Oba Oba Bossa Nova with O Som Do Jazz

Sunday, July 24 - O Som Do Jazz performs at the Catherine Hickman Theatre in Gulfport at 4 PM. The concert will feature music by Edu Lobo, Tom Jobim, Toquinho and original compositions soon to be released in the group's second CD.

Admission is $10 at the door. Hickman Theater is located at 5501 27th Ave. South, Gulfport, FL 33707-5553.

O Som Do Jazz has released its first CD entitled Infinita Bossa featuring Rio de Janeiro vocalist Andrea Moraes Manson. O Som Do Jazz is a working band based in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.

Selections include Ela e Carioca, Brigas Nunca Mais, Batucada Surgiu, Lobo Bobo, Berimbau, Caso Serio, Influencia do Jazz, Noa Noa, Deixa, Corcovado, Voce e Eu, Manha de Carnaval, Sea & Salt, Flor de Lis, Voce Abusou & E Com Esse Que Que Eu Vou.

With admiration of Elis Regina, Zimbo and Tamba Trios as reference points, O Som Do Jazz approached Infinita Bossa imagining what the band might have sounded like in a Rio or São Paulo club date circa 1965.
